An Efficient Home

Southern Traditional Homes takes energy efficiency seriously. Going beyond the minimum requirements sets Southern Traditional Homes apart. We build each home with environmentally sustainable practices and utilize engineered materials to minimize waste and environmental impact. From radiant barrier sheathing to third-party inspectors, the list of standard items is comprehensive.

Your home will be inspected and tested by an energy rater, then scored using the Home Energy Rating System (HERS), a nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance. You will also receive a Certified High-Performance Home certification as well as an independently certified HERS score for your home. A lower HERS score indicates a more energy efficient home.

An Affordable Home

Every Southern Traditional Homes is third-party independently tested and rated.

HERs governed by the Department of Energy provides a score for each home. This score is used to calculate the annual cost and Energy Savings for each Home. Your new Southern Traditional Home will come with an Energy $avings Certificate. This value is calculated based on careful analysis of the home construction plans and detailed on-site inspections performed by RESNET, the Residential Service Network!

Each one-point decrease in the HERS Index equates to a 1% reduction in energy consumption, so the lower the score, the more efficient your home is
